How you felt about the place

Well, I was born and grew up in the countryside, where nature was all around and every house had a large garden. I used to take all those things for granted. Then, I moved to the city for higher education and work, and I realized how significant they are.

The other day, I felt so fed up with urban life that I decided to take two weeks off to get away from it all for a while. I searched online and found a village in Hue province in Central Vietnam where every family owns a tiny house but an enormous garden. I booked a homestay there and I wasn’t disappointed. The garden of my host family was incredibly beautiful, luxuriant and well laid out. It simply took my breath away.

Spanning an extensive area of more than 1,000 square meters, this garden had designated spaces for fruit trees, vegetables, herbs and flowers, separated by ornamental trees. Its gate was elegantly covered by vine plants and it shared no actual boundaries with neighboring gardens, just lines of areca. Everything was green. I was blown away by the meticulous attention and elaborate effort local people invested in their gardens. I had a great time walking and cycling around that verdant village.

This homestay trip was an incredibly rewarding experience for me. I was deeply impressed with the passionate love local people have for their gardens and nature in general. They have taken gardening work to a whole new level. I hope the village would never be modernized and all this picturesque greenery would stay forever.
