This topic reminded me of the very first time I used the visualisation technique to reach my goal.
I remember taking part in countless group activities during my 4 years at university. The most unforgettable of them all is a team assignment for the Vietnamese culture subject. Each group was assigned with one topic, and ours was traditional architecture. It was tough for me, really. The topic was completely unfamiliar, preparation time too short and on top of that, other team members were those I rarely hanged out with in the class.
It was also the first time I had to deliver a speech in front of an audience, which I dreaded. However, as there were only few days left and that presentation was so crucial, I couldn’t just sit still. I practiced day and night, trying to visualise myself in a room where people were all smiling and encouraging. They were eager to hear what I was going to say and they would give me a big round of applause at the end of my talk.
Somehow, my fear subsided and eventually the big day came, and you know what? I managed to deliver my part smoothly and passionately. Our group was awarded the most outstanding presentation by both our lecturer and other classmates. I still feel on top of the world when reminiscing about this unexpected outcome. It has shown me that with a bit of imagination and a whole lot of effort we can achieve anything we set our mind to.
