Ielts Speaking Part 1 Children’s Ideas Topic
When do you think children start to have their own ideas?
Well, it depends on each child. Some can learn quickly and form their own opinions about what they want to eat, play or dress at the age of 2 or 3, I think.
Should parents follow their children’s ideas or should they say “No” to them?
Personally I think parents should respect their children’s opinions, but have the flexibility to say Yes or No. Most importantly, they should teach their kids to make decisions independently and take full responsibilities in life.
Can children say no?
Yes they can. I guess they just learn from adults who are addicted to saying “Don’t do this”, “Don’t do that” all the time. Additionally, saying “No” might be one way for stubborn toddlers or pre-schoolers to assert themselves.
