It is increasingly common for robots to be present in the workplace and households around the globe. I believe this is a positive trend because they can make not only outstanding helpers but also extraordinary companions.

Undoubtedly, robots can outperform humans in a vast number of jobs, leading to higher productivity and efficiency for most businesses and organisations. Owing to their abilities to work relentlessly with utmost precision, robots have been of immeasurable help to workers and professionals in multiple sectors including manufacturing, logistics and health care. During the Covid-19 pandemic, for example, automated machines have replaced medical staff in precarious tasks such as disinfecting a building or taking care of infected people. This has reduced the workloads of social workers and lowered their risks of contracting the coronavirus sigfificantly.

Furthermore, the companionship of robots may vastly improve the quality of life for millions of people who are living alone or in small family units. Working parents are getting busier and it is likely that children and elderly people will be on their own at home for longer hours in the future. With the unprecedented development of artificial intelligence, robots are now able to do more than just a domestic worker. They can read bedtime stories to children, nurture their social skills or hold conversations with the elders. Having a humanoid around might contribute immensely to the improvement of their physical and mental well-being.

In conclusion, while skeptics view the increasing popularity of robots as a substantial threat, I believe these cutting-edge technologies can liberate humans from overwhelming workloads or repetitive chores, and enrich their lives. People should learn to collaborate with them and be prepared for the future rather than hold onto unfounded fears. (285 words)
