- Are there many parks in Vietnam?
Well, they are quite popular in big cities such as Hanoi, Danang or Ho Chi Minh city. In the countryside, however, parks and other public facilities are limited. This is because in rural areas, almost all families have their own gardens where fruit trees, vegetables and flowers are grown.
- Who go to the park more often in Vietnam, young people or old people?
Old people definitely. In summer, people of all ages flock to the park every morning and late afternoon to get cooled down or to exercise: brisk walking, running, jogging such sort of things. In winter, however, I see few young people at parks, just some old men doing Tai Chi and some middle-aged women practicing traditional dances.
- Do you think there would be more people go to the park in the future?
I suppose so. Cities in Vietnam are getting more crowded and heavily polluted so it’s likely that urban dwellers would visit parks more often. I can also see local people are becoming more aware of the benefits of outdoor activities so hopefully, there would be more park lovers in the future.
- What are the benefits of having parks in the city?
Well, parks offer a chance to catch some fresh air, relax and exercise. They also make a perfect hideaway to escape from city hustle and bustle. On top of that, parks with their green settings are perfect venues for social gatherings, an integral part of our life. All in all, parks are essential to both our physical and mental health.
- What are positive effects of gardening for adults?
There is a ton of benefits gardening offers. First, as a hobby, it helps people relax and relieve their stress. Also, it makes a perfect opportunity for adults to perform physical activities on a regular basis and stay fit. Apart from this, gardening work provides the family with fresh, nutritious and safe food, which is healthy for both people’s health and budget.
Do Vietnamese people love growing plants?
Yes, I’d say so. Vietnam used to be an agrarian country so the passion for growing trees and plants probably runs in our blood. However, it’s noticeable that people living in the countryside tend to love it more than those living in cities where fertile land is scarce. Besides, old people seem to be more enthusiastic about farming and gardening than their young counterparts. This is probably due to the fact that they have more free time to devote to their hobbies.
What kinds of plants do people in VN often grow?
In rural areas, various types of fruit trees, ornamental trees, crops and vegetables are grown. In the city, however, flowers and ornamental plants, especially those that require little space and can be grown indoors, appear to be more preferred. It’s understandable as urban dwellers tend to be busier and also less savvy about horticulture than villagers.
