Ideas for Streaming Education:

Several schools separate students according to their intellectual or academic ability

If students of the same level are grouped together in one class, they may progress faster

Higher-achieving leaners will be given more challenging lessons to realise their full potential

Students of lower level can learn at their comfortable pace and feel more confident

There is likely less disruption and peer pressure in class as students would be more focused if lessons are appropriate for their levels, skills and needs

This would also benefit teachers since there is no need for them to prepare complex lesson plans for learners of mixed abilities or worry about leaving some behind.

Mixed Ability Education:

Lower-level students will not be stigmatised and humiliated by others or neglected by their parents just because they are labelled as “being less intellectual”

They will have role models and be encouraged to improve their academic performance

This can promote competition and collaboration among students at the same time

Gifted leaners get an opportunity to help their low-performing peers

Mixed-ability classes represent real life situations in which individuals of different talents and intellectual abilities can work and thrive together.
