Do you often do housework?

Yes. Since I moved out, I’ve been trying to do housework on my own. Due to my hectic schedule, however, I can’t afford to do it as often as I wish. Apart from cooking and doing the dishes on a daily basis, I tend to do most of my chores, including tidying my room, shopping and doing the laundry on the weekend.

What kind of housework do you like/ dislike?

I’d say that I’m really into tidying my room, things like mopping the floor and the stairs. These chores can be seen as physical activities so obviously they can do wonders for my health. Besides, I can also reorganize my thoughts while cleaning up my room , so yeah.

I can’t stand cooking and doing the dishes. These tasks are too time-consuming and troublesome for a person who has no knack for cooking like me. I wish I could afford eating out at a gourmet restaurant every single day.

Who does most of the housework in your home?

My mom used to deal with it but now as I’m living independently, I must take care of it myself. Though I find chores very tedious, I always try to complete them as planned so that I can have a fresh start every new week.

Who taught you to do housework?

My mom and my elder sisters. To be honest I wasn’t interested in learning it at all and it took me a long while to get used to doing chores. Though I was a slow learner, I had accumulated a lot of helpful tips and tricks in cleaning, grocery shopping, cooking and the like.

Is it important to do housework?

I’d say so. It’s a crucial part of our lives. Learning to do housework properly might also instill in us precious values such as hard work, patience and discipline. Of course, it’s not compulsory to do chores because people can always hire domestic workers or housekeepers if they can afford.
