This topic reminds me of my 20th birthday when I got a yummy homemade cake from my dearest friend. That salted egg sponge cake has remained the best gift I’ve ever received.

What’s so special about the cake is that my friend spent a whole day preparing it for me. She admitted that she had no flair for cooking, so it took her several weeks to practice with a lot of trial and error. All her hard work had paid off so well when eventually she was able to make a perfect one for me.

The cake looked amazing with yellow salted yolks placed on top of a cheese cream layer. I had never been a fan of salted egg but the cake’s sweet and savory combination just blew me away. Perhaps, it was my friend’s enormous effort that made the fluffy cake taste just like heaven.

I was moved to tears when she brought out the cake and sang “happy birthday”. She had told me that she would give me a special present on my 20th birthday. Little did I know that she would go extra miles to bake me a cake. I was so lucky to have that friend in my life.
