The illustration highlights the various stages involved in making compost from compostable household waste. Overall, there are five main steps beginning with the preparation of an empty plastic container and ending with the finished compost.

The recycling process starts with preparing a large plastic container of at least 2 cubic metres in capacity. This container must have holes on its sides, which allows air to flow in and out during the composting process. In the next step, waste is collected and sorted before being placed into the composter in separate layers. Food scraps should be put in first, and then garden waste and paper waste are piled on top of each other. It is essential that each layer be 15cm in height and be stacked in the mentioned order.

Following this, nitrogen and hot water are added and the container is then closed with a lid, which creates an ideal environment for decomposition. During the decomposing process, the waste gets heated up naturally and excess heat escapes through the holes. After 6 months, the materials are finally converted into fertilizers that can now be used for plants in household gardens.
