I am going to tell you about a crucial appointment that I missed a couple of years ago. This story happened in my last year at university. Obviously, it was a tough time for everyone. I did worry a lot, not only about my graduate thesis but also about work and career stuffs. I had been searching for opportunities for a while, but I was not qualified for any as they all required at least 2 years of working experience. The other day, I came across a poster for a management trainee program in a giant multinational corporation. Such programs were supposed to recruit top-ranked students only but I decided to apply, totally on a whim. But you know what, I was selected for an interview.

I was so thrilled. Of course, I didn’t forget to prepare for it. I went online researching all possible information about the company and tried  to practice answering some tough questions. Finally, the big day came and I got up super early to have a decent breakfast and get dressed. However, on my way to their office, I got into an accident and fell off my motorbike. The injuries were not serious, just some scratches and bruises, but it took an hour to settle who was at fault. Obviously, I couldn’t make it to the interview. I called them to apologize and explain my situation. I hoped they could give me another chance but they said it was impossible to reschedule the appointment. I was so disappointed in myself but there was nothing I could do about it really. These things happen and that’s life.
