This topic reminds me of a huge challenge I faced when I was working on my graduation thesis more than 10 years ago. It was a hard time for me because I had to juggle between two part-time jobs and my study. On top of that my dad had to undergo a lung surgery at that time so I had to help mom take great care of him.
Consequently, I missed several deadlines for assignments related to my thesis, including submitting a topic and an outline. I did struggle a lot. There were several nights I found myself debating whether I should quit my jobs or defer my thesis defense to the following year. I couldn’t stop working as I needed to support myself and my family. Neither should I delay my graduation coz my dad would be devastated if he knew that. Indeed, I was in a tough dilemma.
Eventually I decided to consult my thesis advisor and she told me that I could handle all those tasks just by working a bit harder and staying more focused. She even went an extra mile for me by allowing me to submit my outline one week later. Thanks to her generous support I had managed to complete my thesis on time and deliver a brilliant thesis presentation.
That experience has taught me a valuable lesson. I should always believe in myself and challenge myself by pushing beyond my own limits.
